Virus of Negativity

We, in human history, have dealt with many epidemics, pandemics, and deadly viruses which took a heavy toll on human lives or hampered it.

The recent one was Corona Virus, which affected us physically, mentally, socially, and financially. It slowed down the growth, forced us to wear masks, keep social distance even with our loved ones, and quarantined us for more than a year. But thanks to medical science, we found vaccines for it. Though not completely, we are somehow safe now.

But though we are successful in dealing with many deadliest viruses, we knowingly avoided facing the most prevailing virus, that infected only the human race since its evolution. It led to many wars, massacres, colonization, invasion, and violence; that virus is a ‘Virus of Negativity’. Many superpowers and well-known scientists have conveniently ignored that virus as they knew it would be difficult to find a vaccine for it.

Though the degree may differ, the virus has infected everyone. Countries, societies, and families with the most infected people; are compelled to live in an unhappy environment. Due to that virus, there is an imbalance in everything.

Some of the symptoms seen in people highly infected with ‘Virus of Negativity’ are as follows:

  1. They are egoistic;
  2. They think of themselves as superior and others as inferior;
  3.  They are jealous of others’ success or progress and try to bring them down by hook or crook;
  4.  They try to dominate others, harass others, and humiliate others;
  5.  They are always unhappy and always search for wrong in everything;
  6.  They are pessimists;
  7.  They blame others.

One can now realize how dangerous these infected people are. These people look normal, but deep in thought, they are very lethal. If untreated, every body cell, tissue, and organ gets diseased, showing symptoms of various illnesses. It is the most contagious virus of all time, as it can spread without being in contact. Also, no one has yet developed any technique/machine to diagnose it.

The only way to stop this virus is to be happy and have a positive attitude.

It’s high time for everyone to work on themselves to remain immune from the virus, or it will keep on destroying the beauty of Life…✍️

Staff Training and Development

Training is crucial for human development.

Technically, staff training is a systematic acquisition of attitudes, concepts, knowledge, roles, or skills resulting in improved performance at work.

The need for training for improved productivity has become universally accepted.

  • Training is a systematic development of knowledge, skills, and attitudes required by employees to perform adequately on a given task or job.
  • Training and development of staff enable them to work towards taking the organization to its expected destination.

The effectiveness and success of an organization depend on the people who form and work within the organization. The process of training and development is a continuous one.

Training and development is a platform to acquire new knowledge and develop further the skills and techniques to function effectively. It is a process of creating organizational conditions that will cause personnel to strive for better performance.

The functions of training are as follows:

  • Increase productivity;
  • Improves the quality of work;
  • Improves skills, knowledge, understanding, and attitude;
  • Enhance the use of tools and machines;
  • Reduces waste, accidents, turnover, lateness, absenteeism, and other overhead costs;
  • Enhance the implementation of new policies ;
  • Prepares people for achievement;
  • Improves and ensures the survival and growth of the enterprise.

Objectives of Training and Development are:

  • To improve the qualities of the trainee;
  • To increase personnel efficiency, professional growth, and smooth and more effective organization operations.

Organizations are, therefore, encouraged to train and develop their staff to enhance their effectiveness.

As training reduces the work of close supervision, it also improves the drive, initiative, and quality of work of the employees. It assists them in achieving the goals and objectives of the organization.

Thus, for any organization to succeed, training and re-training of all staff with workshops, conferences, and seminars should be vigorously pursued and made compulsory.

Exams !!!

As exam dates are approaching, the atmosphere in many houses changes drastically.

Students appearing for SSC, HSC, and final year examinations are the ones experiencing these changes.

Parents put all their efforts so that their children score good marks in exams. It is the same scenario we see each year during exams.

Even after all the efforts, some students, though intelligent, somehow fail to perform as per their potentials in exams.

The situation further worsens when parents and relatives, without knowing the exact reason, comment – Thoda aur padhai ki hoti toh aur acche marks aate. It further demoralizes the students.

Article_Amol Dixit

I do conduct individual sessions as well as sessions for institutes on – Exam and stress management. It received a positive and overwhelming response from students and their parents as well as institutes.

The one common observation I had during my sessions is that students know about the implications if they don’t do good in exams, but they are unaware of the bright future they will have if they do well in exams.

Students should be made aware of the importance of exams in their life and career. It will help them to see exams as an opportunity and platform to prove their worth. Students should be made aware of other benefits of appearing in exams and doing well in them.

It is the responsibility of parents to believe in the abilities of their children. They should encourage students to succeed positively.

All the best in advance !!!

Fat loss v/s Weight Loss

Nowadays, due to a hectic schedule, many tend to neglect their health. However, at some point, it becomes mandatory to take our fitness and diet seriously for health. At that point, many make the mistake of targeting weights rather than fats.

We have seen many people with adverse effects due to their weight loss regime. Before going into details, first, understand our body composition:

Based on our fitness level, our weight comes from:

  • Muscle: 30-55% of body weight
  • Fat: 10-30% of body weight
  • Water: 10-25% of body weight
  • Bone: 15% of body weight
  • Organs, other tissues: 10-15% of body weight

Our muscle accounts for about 30-55% of our body weight. A pound of muscle will be about four times smaller than a pound of fat. A fit body has a low body fat percentage (10% to 15% for men and 15% to 20% for women).

Our fat percentage is the actual measurement of how fit and in which shape your body is. The amount of body fat can vary drastically from person to person.

Body fat burns fewer calories at rest than muscle does. One pound of muscle burns around 6 calories per day, whereas one pound of fat only burns about 2 calories per day.

Why do two individuals with the same weight and height look different ???

The difference is the fat percentage!

A person with a low body fat percentage with higher muscle mass will look fitter than others, despite having the same weight.

There are some important points one must consider before fitness and diet regime:

  • Two individuals with similar height can weigh the same but look completely different because one has lower body fat than the other;
  • The weighing scale can mislead you;
  • Weight loss = Muscle loss + Fat loss + Water loss
  • If you are losing fat, you will look slimmer at the same body-weight by building muscle;
  • Fat loss = Reduction of stored body fat;
  • Track Body Fat. Get a fat body% and track your body fat every 2 weeks;
  • Shoot Pictures. Compare with your previous pics.

Here are some effects on the body due to Fat loss and Weight loss:

Fat LossWeight Loss
Increased Fitness LevelDecreased Fitness Level
Increased Body StrengthDecreased Body strength
Reduction in body fat %Reduction in Muscle mass
Increased metabolismDecreased Metabolism

Hence, focus on losing fat! Then decide if you still need to lose weight.

Know your well-wishers

Energy is the very strength and vitality we all require to live a dynamic, driven, and determined life.

The happy people have a high energy level, while unhappy have a low energy level. A healthy and happy person indeed is one filled with energy. It helps them to fulfill their dreams, pursue goals, and overcome obstacles.

Have you ever had the experience of feeling bored, threatened, overwhelmed, or depressed after just a few moments in a particular person’s company? Or have you experienced the following symptoms of being:

  • Overwhelmed;
  • Stressed;
  • Physically ill ( headaches, body aches, etc.);
  • Mentally or physically exhausted;
  • Irritable;
  • Anxious.

If that describes a familiar experience, chances are you have been in the company of an emotionally immature individual (EII), who have the sense that the whole world revolves around them.

Some of the characteristics of emotionally immature individuals are:

  • They are almost incapable of seeing things from another person’s perspective;
  • They often lack empathy;
  • They are blamers;
  • They are judgemental;
  • They are melodramatic;
  • They are jealous;
  • They are the insecure ones, always in constant need of reassurance and acceptance;
  • They feed their ego(loves to dominate, debate, argue, and pick fights);
  • They cannot create or sustain their life force in any positive manner;
  • Always whining, complaining, and gossiping;
  • They perceive others as the solution to their problems;
  • They are takers rather than givers;
  • They have an exaggerated sense of self-importance and avoidance of life’s real issues.

These people can be your family, relatives, friends, clients, colleagues, neighbors, or even strangers. And they come in all types.

Most of the people who come to me for counseling are some way or others who are in contact with these emotionally immature individuals. Unknowingly, the counselee helped and supported the immature behavior of these people, which affected them adversely, leading to emotional and physical imbalance.

During counseling sessions, we try to identify these emotionally immature people in the life of the counselee and try different customized methods to deal with them.

Some of the methods one can use to deal with such emotionally immature people are:

  • Know your well-wishers;
  • Practice self-respect and self-reflect;
  • Surround yourself with positive, genuine, and caring people who inspire you to be your very best;
  • Practice Meditation;
  • Employ ‘Let Go’ attitude;
  • Limit your interaction with them, if possible;
  • Practice assertiveness;
  • Encourage EII to develop their strength rather than spoon-feeding them;
  • Talk to a Mentor / Counselor for guidance.

Everybody must learn and strive to nurture the energy within themselves. Our thoughts and emotions play a critical role in conserving and enhancing our energy resources.

Dieting – An art to follow…

Dieting, such a common word we hear nowadays.

As a dietitian, I came across many people who said they followed many diets; followed a specific food diet; starved themselves but with no desired results.

It was a challenge for me to change the mindset of my clients, so I had to introduce a concept in the diet program – Diet Counselling and Coaching.

We tried to understand their daily routines, their eating habits, their thought process about food, and many other things. We worked on their views about food and their eating habit.

I, personally feel, Dieting is an art, one needs to perfect for better health and fitness.

 Dieting means eating the right food in the right quantity in the right way at the right time at the right place to get the right nutrition.

Scientifically it is proven that fitness is 70% of what you eat.

Diet varies from person to person. For desired results, diet needs to be tailored depending on various factors.

I also get many online queries from my clients about superfoods; they have a prevailing assumption that to be fit, it is necessary to have superfoods. Vegetables and fruits available locally are enough to nourish us, make us strong.

Everybody nowadays has so much extra information about food that sometimes it is difficult for them to understand where and how to implement it.

As a dietitian, I try to nullify those errors while making a diet plan.

I feel happy to hear from people that it is working; it is different. It brings a big smile to my face when they say that we enjoy dieting.

Smile for your success !!!

It was a pleasant morning. I was getting ready for the lecture for students of the renowned institute. The topics for the session were scrolling in my mind.

I was about to leave, thought to have a last glance at the mirror. Everything was fine, my dressing, my posture, absolutely ready for the session

My mirror image: Hey! you are missing something, Amol.

I had a close look at myself, my clothes, my ID card…

My mirror image: Amol, something is missing.

I was then worried about what was that; I was missing. I had a close look again.

Oh!!! I realized It was my smile !!!

I excused my mirror image and did some analysis.

It was the first session at that institute so, I was a bit stressed about the outcome of my session, which cost me my smile. I used my secret techniques; my smile was back on my face.

Then, again came to the mirror for approval.

My mirror image gave me a thumbs-ups: Complete man.

The smile changed my personality so positively; I started feeling confident and full of energy.

I was ready for my session on Personality and Professionality Development (PPD).

Like everyone’s, my smile too was contagious; it spread a wave of happiness to everyone in the session; needless to say, that session was a great success!!!

There was a smile on everyone’s face; it enhanced their abilities with more opportunities for success…✍️

जीना इसी का नाम है !!!

I want this…I don’t have this….I would be happy if I am rich.….I will be happy if I am famous…I will be happy only if I have more things than her/him…..

अगर आप इस चक्रव्यू में फसे हो तो थोड़ा सोचिए…सब मिलने के बाद भी क्या हम खुश होंगे ???…..and answer will be definitely ‘No’…It is true…believe me…no worldly thing can make you happy….or.. the happiest people on the earth would have been the richest, powerful, or famous people….but it is not so….

Happiness lies in accepting what we have rather than what we want….it comes from inner self….Think what you have rather than what you don’t have…..If you go around you will see people struggling to meet their daily needs…..but still smiling…and we, though have so much…always stressed up…..

आख़िर क्यों ???…शायद हमने सब सिखा पर जीना भूल गए है…it’s time to go back to basic…rejuvenate the child in you who was happy in small things…जिसकी एक हसीं से पूरा घर खिलखिला उठता था…पर अभी…we bring home all the worldly tensions with us…

Happy people are givers and not takers…happiness multiply if you share it with others…..

सोचना आपको है !!!

जाते जाते एक प्यारासा गीत –

किसी की मुस्कुराहटों पे हो निसार,
किसीका दर्द मिल सके तो ले उधार,
किसीके वास्ते हो तेरे दिल में प्यार
