An emotional quotient (EQ) or emotional intelligence is the ability to identify, assess, and control the emotions of oneself, others, and groups. 

People with high EQ can :

  • Manage emotions;
  • Monitor emotions;
  • Label them appropriately;
  • Use emotional information to guide thinking and behavior;
  • Use them for positive thinking;
  • Identify, evaluate, control, and express their own emotions;
  • Understand emotional meanings. 

People with high EQ generally achieve more, excel at teamwork and service, and take more initiative. 

From an early age, encouraging qualities like sharing, thinking about others, putting oneself in another person’s shoes, giving space, and the general principles of cooperation can inculcate emotional awareness in children.

EQ is partially determined by how a person relates to others and maintains self-control. Through effective coaching, young adults can also enhance their EQ.

Some strategies for teaching emotional intelligence include offering character education, modeling positive behaviors, encouraging people to think about how others are feeling, and finding ways to be more empathetic toward others.

Stress is a commonly used word nowadays, from working people to non-working, and from post-graduates to school-going kids.

उन्हाळ्याची सुट्टी

ह्या उन्हाळ्याच्या सुट्टीत, पालकांनी मुलांच्या EQ (emotional quotient) म्हणजे भावनिक योग्यता वाढवण्यासाठी प्रयत्न केला तर ती त्यांच्या भावी जीवनासाठी योग्य गुंतवणूक होईल.

Door to the Past

Everyone has a past.

There are all kinds of memories, some that we love to archive for a lifetime, while some we try very hard to delete from our life.


Still, human nature is to search and dig out those memories which caused emotional turbulence or disturbance in our life. We tend to recall them again, as we like to keep attached to those thoughts and events which motivate us to overthink.

Many doors lead us to the past. Hence it is advisable to keep doors to the past always locked.


If we keep it open, it leads to a thought rush leading to overthinking. It has an unwanted impact on our bodies and mind. Even if we want to unlock the door to the past, be careful to recall those experiences which can give us a learning experience and leads us to development. It is what we call mind control.
